Review: The Chicago Manual of Style

University of Chicago Press

Chicago ManualThis may seem a strange book for me to recommend as a 'standard', but it is an invaluable one for anyone who wants to get their writing published. Many international publishers require American style standards in their publications (even from UK writers!), and this is the book that many of them refer to. So it's a must-have reference book to be on the bookshelf of anyone who's already a serious writer or is hoping to be.

You can get access to the manual on line, and it's nice to dip into, but to have continual access to the full version you would have to pay a membership fee after your initial free period. I find it’s more useful to have the hard copy for a quick reference next to me when I'm writing.

You can order your own copy by clicking here: The Chicago Manual of Style: For Authors, Editors and Copywriters Hope you find it useful too.
