My Dream becomes Reality!
I was beginning to wonder if this day would ever come – as I guess were many of my friends and family – but here it is, and it was well as worth all the effort, as the new CoachAmal website has finally been launched, alhamdu lillah!
The vision I’ve been holding onto for all these months has finally been realised, and I’m so happy with it. It’s actually even better than my initial dream - but sometimes Allah does that; we dream big, but His plan for us is even better! So all the waiting, hoping, planning and hard work has finally paid off. I hope you like it too.
When I came back to the UK last year, I brought with me five things:
a long term vision of what I wanted to achieve with my life
a year-long goal, shorter term SMART (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic and Time-bound) goals and my RPMs (Results, Purpose, Massive Action Plan) already mapped out
massive determination to succeed
a readiness to work out how to overcome roadblocks and not let them divert me from my goal
faith that all I had to do was do the best I could and do everything with the intention to please Allah (subhana wa ta`ala), and things would work out as they should
I planned to hit the ground running and hoped to get my business off the ground and running in six months. So I set off at a gallop. My first day back was the One Life Exhibition in Earls Court, where I made some great contacts with some organizations from my home-town of Sheffield that were supporting new businesses to get off the ground. I couldn’t believe my good fortune!
When I got to Sheffield, I ran around sorting out all my paperwork to re-establish a paper trail for myself here - after being away for 20 years it was as if I had never existed! I had to deal with this government office and that organization. There were frustrating moments along the way, but after seven years of living in Cairo I’d dealt with much worse and learned many valuable lessons in patience along the way, so it didn’t seem that bad...really.
Then the big roadblocks started to come and unexpected challenges began to crop up. This was the time to test my behavioural flexibility and my determination to reach my goal; was I going to give up or find a Plan B? As it happened I had to find a Plan B and a Plan C, and ended up getting much more involved with the technical side of things than I had anticipated...but do you know what? I really enjoyed it and learned so much. So much so, that once the dust settles, and I sit down and reflect on the lessons I’ve learned from this experience, I’m wondering how I can develop this new passion into something bigger that still fits in with my long term vision!
So here it is at last, the official CoachAmal UK launch; the culmination of many hours of listening, learning and effort. Since I’ve been back, I’ve had so much support from some pretty amazing people, who have taught, mentored, and coached me and given me their time. And alongside this, I’ve used all my own self-coaching skills to bring me to this point, and now I'm looking for the next mountain to climb! Insha Allah, over the coming months, I’ll be sharing loads of great coaching tips, techniques and advice with you to help you through your challenges and to help you to overcome your road blocks too. So keep this page bookmarked!
PS Just before I close, I need to say a great big thank you to a few of the amazing people who helped me along the way: to Sherif Okasha for the beautiful original design he created for my site; to Paul Beck of BiG who patiently taught me so much about working on the internet; to Rob Barker from Digital Entrepreneurs and Robin Keech from Disobedient Media who gave me more than my fair share of their time, knowledge and skills to ‘future-proof’ my site; and my mother, my late father, my brother Michael and his partner, and my sister coaches who have all supported and encouraged me. A big thanks to you all. And of course, to Allah (subhana wa ta`ala) Who made it all possible.
