By Brian Tracy
When my brother gave me a copy of this book, I thought it was going to be a real cheesy book. I must admit, I wouldn’t have bought it for myself, as the title would have turned me off, but it’s surprised me. It’s turned out to be one of those books I keep on referring back to whenever I need a boost to get myself organized and get things done.
Eat that Frog is only a small book, but it’s packed with great time saving tips and ideas that will help you prioritise and organise your activities to get the most out of your day. It’s written in a very concise easily understandable way, so you don’t have to spend days reading about how you could save a few hours. The perfect time management book, that doesn’t just talk the talk! And the style is very motivating; it leaves you looking for practical ways to reorganise your own life, rather than just wanting to fill another space on your bookshelf.
The ideas that Brian Tracy describes can be applied both at home and at work, for anyone who feels that they need 72 hours in a day to get everything done that they’d like to. Many of the ideas on the surface seem simple and common sense, which is true of many self-help books, but how many of us actually apply them in practice?
Where did the title come from? Apparently, there's an old saying that if the first thing you do in the morning is to eat a live frog, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it's probably the worst thing you'll do all day. Tracy uses the ‘frog’ as a metaphor for the most important task you have to do, and says that if you Eat that Frog and focus on the your most important tasks first, this will have the biggest impact on your life and results.
