Review: How to Talk to Anyone: 92 Little Tricks For Big Success In Relationships

Leil Lowndes

How to Talk to Anyone

This is a great book with lots of wonderful tips on how to improve your relationships with other people through the way you communicate with them and establish rapport. When I started reading this book, I felt that it was very ‘American’ and that the interactions it was encouraging would seem phoney if I as a Brit tried to put them into practice. Some of the methods, such as the intense eye contact that she suggested, were also not appropriate for me as a Muslimah to use to develop relationships in business. However, as I read on, I began to relate to it more and in the end found myself applying some of the suggestions, with some very positive results. Although my social networking schedule isn’t as hectic as that of Ms Lowndes, so I don't have as many opportunities to practice all the skills she recommends, many of her tips are definitely worth trying out.

If you’re looking for ways to increase your confidence in social and work relationships and to improve the way you relate to others, this book is definitely worth having a look at. Once you've read it you’ll then just need to find opportunities to practice the skills in safe situations, so you’ll eventually be able to use them naturally.
