This has been my favourite translation/interpretation of the Qur’an for a while and one highly recommended in translation circles as well as by many of the well-known Islamic speakers. So it was with great joy that I found out recently that it was actually translated by a group of Muslim women converts to Islam!
It’s written in clear contemporary native English, with the Arabic text being shown next to the English, so you can refer back to it for clarification. There are a few footnotes at the bottom of the pages, which give some of the background to the verses or related references, and in this interpretation every effort is made to indicate if any words have been added to the text in order to make the text more understandable in English. Although the translators have used other translations as the basis for this one - mainly the Muhsin Khan Noble Qur'an interpretation, which was based on several notable tafsirs (exegeses) - many of the criticisms that have been levelled at those interpretations have been overcome in this one.
Although no one translation can give the full breadth and depth of the meaning of the Qur’an, this is the one that appears to be the most accurate and most readable to me.
